Hurricane Names for the 2023 Atlantic Season
The Atlantic hurricane season begins on June 1, 2023, and ends on November 30, 2023, and while it may still be a few months away, it is never too early to start preparing, especially following a devastating 2022 Atlantic hurricane season.
Each year, since 1979, the National Weather Service has released a series of names to be used for storms. This year, they are as follows:
Arlene, Bret, Cindy, Don, Emily, Franklin, Gert, Harold, Idalia, Katia, Lee, Margot, Nigel, Ophelia, Philippe, Rina, Sean, Tammy, Vince, Whitney.
If all storm names are used in the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season, the National Weather Service will continue to name storms based upon the Greek alphabet.
Remember, it is important to prepare ahead of time, such as trimming back trees and making repairs to your home before hurricane season begins.
